Impingement of the Ankle
Impingement of the Ankle is often confused with sprains of the ankle and tears of ligaments. We have not seen a ton of them come in to our facility but when they do come in it is always fun to learn more about them. To better educate our patients with it we Dr Ali decided to compile a ton of information about Impingement of the Ankle so our athletes don’t have to waste hours of their lives searching the web.

Impingement of the Ankle can often be correctly diagnosed by the use of imaging, such as x-ray, MRI or MSK Ultrasound. Often we are looking for “bones that should not be there,” which can create the “pinching” on the joint during dorsiflexion. It’s not uncommon for patients to be incorrectly diagnosed for years with this condition.
